Delaware’s Secretary Landgraf Testifies Before Senate on Behalf of Individuals With Disabilities

Thirteen years ago, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Olmstead v. LC that states must eliminate unnecessary segregation of individuals with disabilities and ensure that individuals with disabilities receive services in the most integrated setting appropriate to their needs.

Update – U.S. Senate Holds Full Committee Hearing on Olmstead Enforcement

On Thursday, June 21, the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions held a hearing on the progress that states are making on advancing community inclusion of individuals with disabilities. Rita Landgraf, Cabinet Secretary for the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS), testified at that hearing, sharing both her professional and personal experiences before the Committee.

Secretary Landgraf has been a lifelong advocate in the areas of disability, health care, and senior issues, and spoke on behalf of individuals with disabilities. She also discussed how the State of Delaware supports individuals with disabilities, and how the State is committed to being a leader in mental health services.
